Logan tees off for its local hospital

Dozens of players and sponsors from across Logan took part in the Logan Hospital Fund Charity Golf Day.

Thanks to local businesses, golfers and community supporters, the Logan Hospital Fund Charity Golf Day raised more than $11,000 for Logan Hospital, with players spending Thursday 8 October on the course at Windaroo Lakes Golf Club in support of a hospital so many families across the region rely on.

The day was made possible by more than 10 hole sponsors including Ausbuild, along with Coca-Cola Euro Pacific (Vending), Mortgage Choice Beenleigh, NGU Real Estate, Necky, Prestige Power and Energy, Ray White Waterford, Sirius Concrete Cutters, The Sporting Globe Logan, Tactica Planning and Development and Warriors Inspire Logan, each of them choosing to back their local hospital and the community it cares for.

Logan Hospital Fund Community Partnerships Manager Ellen Dann said a couple of sponsors went well beyond what was asked of them.

“Prestige Power and Energy didn’t just sponsor a hole, they held a live auction of their products on the day, which was a lot of fun for our players and gave the total a real boost. Necky then donated every dollar from their sales on the day to the Fund, which is a really generous thing for a local business to do. To have businesses put their hand up like that, on top of their sponsorship, says a lot about how much this community cares about its hospital.”

Ellen also thanked Warriors Inspire Logan and Windaroo Lakes Golf Club for their support.

“Warriors Inspire Logan’s support meant a great deal to us, and it was fantastic to have them out on the course alongside our golfers. We’re also so grateful to the team at Windaroo Lakes Golf Club, who looked after everyone so well and made it easy for us to put on a day our players and sponsors genuinely enjoyed.”

The Golf Day was also supported by Logan City Council through Community Benefit Fund grant funding, and the Logan Hospital Fund was grateful to Council and local councillors  Scott Bannan, Nathan St Ledger, Mindy Russell, Miriam Stemp and Karen Murphy who all backed the event for helping turn a great idea into a day the whole community could get behind.

Every dollar raised will go toward equipment, care and research that benefits patients at Logan Hospital, supporting the care teams who look after a growing community every day.
